Diocletian's Palace Peristyle
Day 8, Sunday June 16th, 2013
We started the day by joining a local guide who gave us a complete morning tour of Diocletian's Palace. Diocletian was a Roman Empire who ruled the Roman Empire for 20 years (A.D. 284-305) He built his retirement Palace in Split not far from where he grew up. Some pictures of the tour are shown at right. |
The afternoon was free to explore on our own. We spent more time exploring Diocletian's Palace and then strolled the Riva (harbor). We spent time in the evening in the Palace and Riva people watching. It was a great time. See slides to the right. |

Day 9, Monday June 17th, 1013
|
This morning we took a ferry boat to Korcula but first made a stop at Hvar on the way. Hvar is a beautiful ritzy small island town as you can see from the pictures at left. Hvar has a population of about 4,000 people. |
After spending most of our day in Hvar, we boarded our ferry and headed to Korcula Island where we have a free day tomorrow.
